Juvenile Court, formerly known as
Central Juvenile Court is located
at 1601 Eastlake Avenue, Los Angeles,
CA 90033. It is located directly in
front of Eastlake Juvenile Hall.
The
Eastlake Juvenile Court has many options
in resolving juvenile criminal cases
including but not limited to placing
your child home on probation, or ordering
confinement at juvenile hall, juvenile
camp, placement, or the California
Youth Authority.
Eastlake Juvenile Court has five court rooms. Divsion 201 is staffed by a Juvenile Court Commissioner. Division 202 is staffed by a Judge. Division 203 is staffed by Juvenile commissioner. Division 204 and 205 are both staffed by referees. The bench officers are as follows:
Commissioner Robert J. Totten, Division 201. Commissioner Totten was a private lawyer from 1981 thru 1992, part time referee from 1992 to 1996 , full time referee from 1996 to 1997 and Elected Superior Court Commisioner by judges of the Los Angeles Superior Court in 1997. He is married to Dependency Court Commissioner Debra Losnick. He is a graduate of Loyola Law School in 1981. He is 52 years old in 2007. Commissioner Totten worked for many years at the Sylmar Juvenile Court. He was transferred to Eastlake Juvenile Court in 2007 to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of long time Judge Rudolf Diaz.
Judge Robin Miller Sloan, Division 202. Judge Sloan graduated from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento in 1986. She worked as a Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney from 1988 thru 1991 and as a Deputy Attorney General from 1991 thru 2003. She worked in the criminal division handling writs, appeals and trials, and also in the correctional law section. She also worked in the civil division of the health, education and welfare section. She was appointed by Governor Gray Davis to the Los Angeles Superior Court in 2003. She is married to her husband Michael Sloan, a insurance defense lawyer with the law firm of Malmquist, Fields & Camastra. Judge Sloan worked for many years at the Citrus Court in West Covina prior to coming to Eastlake Juvenile Court. Her father was a judge and her grandfather was a judge and prominent civil rights lawyer who filed a brief in the famous United States Supreme Court desgregation case of Brown vs. Board of Education case. She is 46 years of age in 2007.
Commissioner Christina Hill, Divsion 203. Commissioner Hill graduated from George Washington University in Washington D.C. with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1973. She graduated from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles in 1979. She worked as an associate from Randolph & Levanas from 1980 - 1981. She worked as a sole practicioner from 1981 - 1987. She worked as a Staff Attorney & Trial Lawyer at the State bar of California from 1987 - 1989. From 1991 - 1995 she worked as a part-time juvenile court referee and contract attorney. She was appointed as a referee in 1995 for the Los angeles County Superior Court and was elevated to Commissioner in 2000. She is 54 years old in 2005.
Referee Shep Zebberman Division 204. Referee Shep Zebberman graduated from the University of Redlands in Redlands, California. He received his law school degree from the San Fernando Valley College of Law in 1991. He has been a referee since January 2006.
Referee Cynthia Loo, Division 205. Referee Loo received her Bachelors Degree from USC and graduated from USC School of Law in 1991. She has been a referee since January 2005. Her previous court assignments including serving as a Juvenile Referee in Compton Juvenile Court.
